The annual registration fee covers lessons from September through September. Summer lessons are included. This fee is not pro-rated if you sign up for lessons after September. There is no refund of registration fees.
Tuition is based on an annual number of lessons, so the monthly tuition fee remains the same if there are 3, 4, or 5 lessons in the month. Tuition includes lessons, materials used in the studio, Saturday Practice sessions, jam sessions, practice zone teachers, supplies and most recital costs. You have 2 options to pay your tuition: 1)Payment Authorization Check (PAC) out of your checking or savings account. This payment plan is FREE. There will be a $30.00 insufficient fund fee. 2) Credit Card: Credit cards (Visa or MasterCard only) will be accepted for tuition payment with an 8% service fee. Credit card information will be on file at the studio, and cards will be run at the beginning of each month. You are responsible for tuition payment in accordance with the parent contract. Tuition for 12-week group classes is due the first class, and not refundable after the first class. Check, cash, or credit card are accepted for these classes.
At La Costa Music, the importance of commitment to music study cannot be emphasized enough. In order for your child to progress and enjoy the study of music, you must be committed to a full 10 months (or school-year) of music study. If you begin lessons in September, you need to take lessons until the end of June. If you start lessons any month after that, you will also be required to commit until the last lesson of June. There is no option to quit lessons for any reason, or at any time during the contract period. You are responsible for tuition payments for the entire period of the contract. Please do not register for lessons at La Costa Music unless you can abide by this policy.
There are two main recitals during the year. One is in December, and students perform holiday music. The end of year recital is in June. We will also be offering performance opportunities for students at local retirement communities throughout the year. All instruments are encouraged to attend & perform in recitals. Recitals help to establish goals for students. They are also fun!
At La Costa Music, you will have a student account. On this account, you will automatically be invoiced for music and any other accessory items your student may require (like metronomes, picks or guitar strings). Music costs between $35.00 and $45.00 per year. When students are ready for the next level of music or any supplemental music, they will receive it at their lesson. Music & accessory items will be billed in January & June, 2009, or at any time if deemed appropriate. We will e-mail you a copy of this invoice. You can check your balance at any time, and pay your music/accessory bill at any time. Please call or stop by the front desk.
There are no makeup lessons. Students are generally busy with many activities. Please choose the lesson time that best fits into your schedule. The teacher has reserved the time for you! Guitar & Piano students can take advantage of Saturday Practice sessions to help them catch up if they miss a lesson. Saturday practices are included in tuition and you don’t have to miss a lesson to come!
Saturday practices are usually two Saturdays a month. Students can be dropped off at the studio and stay as long as they would like. A teacher is available to assist and help with practice. Students who take advantage of this will see improved progress. Parents are also welcome. We can help you assist your child with practice at home. Please see the calendar for scheduled Saturday Practices. Saturday practices are included in your tuition.
For progress to be steady, it is very important that students practice at home. Younger students will need assistance from parents for this. Please schedule practice so that it is done on a daily basis. Even small amounts of practice daily are beneficial. The key to enjoyment of lessons is practice at home. Come to Saturday practice, and get practice tips from teachers.
Please follow the safety rules in the studio. Be quiet and courteous. Do not bring drinks, candy or gum into the studio. Keep fingernails short, and wash your hands prior to a lesson.
