Amber has been at La Costa Music since 2002. She started piano lessons at the age of 12 and completed level 10 in Certificate of Merit with honors at each level. She received an AA degree in music from Mira Costa and is currently attending UCSD as a piano performance major. She is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California.

Mary Jo has been with La Costa Music for over 2 years. She began piano lessons at the age of 5 and was classically trained on piano at Ohio Weslyan University. She then went on to the Eastman School of Music for her Masters degree in music. She taught piano in her private studio for over 18 years. She is currently a member of the Music Teachers Association of California. Mary Jo coordinates the Certificate of Merit Program at La Costa Music. |

Heidi started piano lessons at the age of 6 and took lessons at La Costa Music when the studio first opened in 1997! She completed level 7 Certificate of Merit and is currently majoring in piano performance at Palomar College. She also plays guitar, flute, and saxophone. She is a member of the Palomar Jazz Band and the Chamber Singers. She teaches piano and saxophone at La Costa Music. Heidi is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. |

Mat started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. He is majoring in music at Palomar College in San Marcos. Mat likes all types of music and enjoys improvising and composing at the piano. He is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. Mat also plays the guitar and belongs to a band called “Green Water District”. At La Costa Music, he teaches piano, and a composition/improvisation class. He also helps at the front desk on occasion. |

Edward started taking piano lessons at the age of 9 in the “Music for Young Children” program. He started private lessons at the age of 11 and went through Certificate of Merit to the advanced level. He won a scholarship through the Music Teachers’ Association. As a freshman at Carlsbad High School he joined the marching band and became the lead percussionist. He is currently studying music with an emphasis in recording engineering at Mira Costa College. At La Costa Music, he teaches piano, and percussion for beginners. |

Kimberly started with piano lessons at the age of 5. At the age of 10 she joined the Yamaha Piano School and participated in a lot of ensemble music and recitals. She started in music education at the Southwestern Community College, and transferred recently to the University of California, San Diego. She enjoys teaching all levels of piano, and is excited to be our newest member on the piano-teaching staff at La Costa Music. Kimberly is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. |

Katie started piano lessons at the age of 4. She completed Certificate of Merit level 7 with honors at each level. She has also studied violin, cello, guitar, voice and bass lessons. Recently, she started an all-girl band with other students of La Costa Music. At La Costa Music, she is in charge of the “PRACTICE ZONE”-a place for students to get extra help on their instruments at no charge. As a musical teenager, the students relate well to her friendly personality. |

Pete has been with La Costa Music for over 5 years. He started playing the guitar at the age of 12 when he got his first guitar. He took lessons with Lloyd Smith and studied the Mel Bay Method. Pete has been teaching the guitar for many years. He also is a member of a band with his wife Nickie who plays the keyboard and sings. They currently perform at different locations around North County including the Beach House in Cardiff. Pete runs the summer guitar camps at La Costa Music, the “Jam Sessions” and guitar Saturday Practices. Pete also teachers adult guitar classes at the studio. |

Joaquin started learning how to play the guitar on his own when he was in high school. He has taken many years of private classical guitar lessons with instructor Arthur Golden. Joaquin is currently majoring in guitar performance at Palomar College. He teaches classical and flamenco style guitar, and rock guitar with an emphasis on note-reading. Joaquin enjoys teaching our group-guitar classes for kids at La Costa Music. |

Dennis was born and raised in New York where he began drum lessons at the age of 12. He has been playing in bands since the age of 16 and is currently active playing with a variety of bands playing music from jazz, to rhythm and blues, to popular. He is an elementary school teacher at Park Dale Lane School. He teaches drums at La Costa Music to students of all ages, and levels. He also enjoys teaching the group drum classes. |
